🎄 Santa’s Holiday : A Festive Adventure Voicing Rocket The Dog

This past Christmas, I had the pleasure of voicing Rocket, the clever (and slightly chaotic) dog in Santa’s Holiday, a festive animated special from the always-brilliant team at Ink and Light. The show aired on RTÉ One, RTÉ2, RTÉ Junior, and is still streaming on the RTÉ Player—so if you haven’t watched it yet, there’s still time to catch some of that North Pole magic.

Set in the heart of Santa’s Village, Santa’s Holiday is full of joy, energy, and a gentle reminder that we all celebrate in different ways. The elves are ready to let loose after a hectic year of wrapping presents and delivering magic... but not everyone finds it easy to switch off.

Arthur the elf is still hard at work, and that’s where Maeve—the littlest elf—and her trusty sidekick Rocket (that’s me!) come in. Their mission? Get Arthur to finally put down the tools and join the fun. What follows is a playful, musical, and at times wildly unpredictable chase through the North Pole. At one point, we’re literally sledding through Santa’s Village on an escaped concert stage—because, of course we are!

Voicing Rocket 🐶

Rocket is one of those characters you fall in love with instantly. Loyal, smart, always one paw ahead—but never too far from getting tangled in the mess. Playing Rocket gave me the chance to stretch my comedic timing, physicality (vocally), and really tap into the boundless energy that animated characters allow.

As a dad, I love working on stories like this—ones I can share with my kids that also have heart, humour, and a few deeper messages under the snow and sparkle. There’s a lovely moment in the story where Maeve realises that not everyone relaxes the same way. For some, being busy is the break. That hit home more than I expected.

A Christmas Highlight 🎁

A huge thanks to Ink and Light for bringing me on board again, after voicing Mr. Wolf in Stories from Backwoods. They continue to make beautifully crafted stories that appeal to kids and adults alike.
